The UK's love affair with Manchester for people having love affairs

Love. Is there any better feeling? That giddy sensation that makes you want to do crazy things, impress your loved one, splash out a bit. 

So, you're planning a romantic weekend away and you want to find just the right place for the perfect break. You know, fantastic restaurants where you can wine and dine that special someone, picturesque places for a hand-in-hand walk, as well as great hotels where you can snuggle yourself away to in those comfy, king size beds...

Oh, and one more thing. Somewhere where nobody knows you and there's absolutely no chance at all of being recognised because you're planning this romantic break, not with your spouse or partner, but with your affair. That's right, not your REAL partner, but your extra one. The one you're cheating with.

And, according to a survey by dating site AshleyMadison.com, of the UK cheaters registered on the site, most said that they would want to take their affairs to our beloved Manchester, making our city top of the cheater's destination of choice.

London, and Cambridge followed for a city break away with their not-so-partner. The dating site, which boasts 35million members worldwide and caters for 'infidelity and married dating', said, 

'Manchester is a city renowned for its cultural diversity and nightlife. Cheaters are usually looking to have fun with their affair partner, away from the monogamy and stresses of their marriage, making Manchester the perfect destination for those looking for excitement.'

The Scottish Highlands comes top of the league for countryside breaks, but the top ten cities for those cheating on their partners is:

So there you have it.

Of course, logically, if people having affairs want to COME to Manchester, then they don't already live here, which either makes us lot top of the league tables in loyalty or means we're too cheap not to do it in our own back yards...
