Time Out says

An impressive homage to one of Manchester's favourite sons, with personal artefacts, manuscripts and regular events

One of Manchester's most celebrated writers, Anthony Burgess is most famous for 'A Clockwork Orange' but, as becomes clear with a visit to this beautifully converted space inside Chorlton Mill, there was a lot more to him.

The International Anthony Burgess Foundation encourages both public and academic interest in the author of over thirty novels, twenty-five works of non-fiction, a few symphonies and an autobiography. There's an extensive archive of items here, from manuscripts to family photographs and personal letters. They even have his vinyl collection. A bookable reading room offers space for research and reflection.

There's a decent shop and small café (no, it's not called 'The Milk Bar'), as well as occasional events in the wonderful Engine House, a large room next door where the likes of book launches, debates and readings take place.

As one of the smaller, more hidden venues in Manchester, this place is easy to miss. Don't.
