Blue Cat Café review Rate it

The Blue Cat is a little enclave of city bohemia picked up and transplanted to the 'burbs. It proudly showcases the best new bands, both local and touring, operating a policy of original music only, with no tribute or cover bands allowed. Past highlights include Johnny Marr and Viva Stereo. Most bands can be seen without having to pay a cover.

Venue looks okay ,but not clear how well management inform bands of original music only. I travelled several miles with my friend to a last minute gig that they had agreed to cover and play for no fee They play very obscure cover music in the main. The manager's manner was to say the least, very off hand and arrogant and dismissive. There had obviously been some communications breakdown which he made absolutely no effort to repair or rectify; in fact he made things completely untenable. To watch my friend having to leave ignominiously before a note was sung was extremely upsetting. It shouldn't have happened but perhaps its an indication of an increasing trend in the disregard some venues hold thier live musical acts. Be warned.
