Harvey Nichols is a beacon of luxury that opened as part of the 2003 Exchange Square development. Its three floors display beauty products, shoes and beautifully crafted womens-wear - the likes of Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli are all on offer, as well as exclusive fashion brands such as Lanvin and Christian Louboutin.

There's a floor of choice menswear morsels and a jewel of a food market, leading to the Second Floor Restaurant. It's a one-stop shop for the well-heeled, and a sublime browsing experience for everyone else. There's also a Dermalogica counter, hair salon and an absolutely fabulous nail bar.

This is the best "department store" in Manchester now, (now we have no more Lewis's and a very bland former shadow of Kendals)

Not in the true sense of the word - there are no acres of space devoted to fabrics, haberdashery and kitchen appliances here. This is all about fashion, cosmetics, accessories and food. A great "lifestyle" store its a shame it isnt a bit bigger (its much smaller than the London original).

The food hall is small but perfectly formed with a good selection of Harvey Nicks top quality own brand foodstuffs. The cafe / restaurant is also highly recommended (shame they clsed the ground floor jiuce/coffee bar though)

Menswear and womenswear is all very high end with brands such as Bottega Veneta and Missoni that you won't fidn elsewhere in the City. As such maybe you want to wait for the sales and try to get a bti of money off!

Great for browsing, eating/drinking and having a sprittz of Creed perfume.
