At the end of a private road behind the Pinacoteca di Brera's botanic gardens, the Bulgari oozes the same exclusivity and class as the brand's fine jewellery, with due attention paid to precious materials. The neutral-toned bedrooms are understated yet luxurious, with oak flooring and capacious black marble and travertine bathrooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows open on to teak balconies overlooking the huge private gardens surrounding the hotel. The spa is a study in contemporary calm, and the bar is a magnet for style-conscious locals as well as hotel guests; drinks are served on the terrace in summer.
