An enchanting, relaxed address with tasty vintage decor and a fine Mediterranean menu. Summer brings primi like wild rice salad or gently roasted stuffed onions. One of our top picks in Milan for a romantic night out.

I feel bad leaving a negative review because the service was really warm and lovely... so I'll start with the positives - the service is good, the interior design is charming, the dishes sound interesting on paper.... the problem is the quality was average verging on bad and the prices are almost extortionate considering the quality. Starters around 15 euros, pasta dishes around 20 euros, mains around 25 - portions are small but main problem is food (or at least the dishes I ordered) tasted like a mediocre local trattoria rather than inventive modern italian cooking. A real disappointment made worse by the price per head... Not normally one to leave reviews but I've always trusted Timeout's recommendations particularly on food - which is why I was so surprised to find Pane e Acqua fall so far short of expectations.
