One of Milan's historic cafés, Biffi is set in the ritzy Magenta/Vercelli neighbourhood. The counter is cosy but never overcrowded, and the tearoom has a handful of tables for chatting and resting. It's particularly famed for its panettone, the Milanese Christmas cake it has been producing since 1847.

Visited here for aperitivo as Time Out said it was mid range. We stood at the counter, and did not sit at a table but were charged more than double that charged at Zucco in the Galleria, which has much more atmosphere. Biffi is nothing special and we felt we were 'ripped off'. Looks pretty but don't go in unless money is no object. My husband has been living in Milan for a while and these prices are not typical.
