Le CopperBay

4 out of 5 stars

Time Out says

Nautical-themed drinking hole Le CopperBay is a sophisticated and elegant cocktail bar hidden away down the quiet Rue Bouchardon. Against a décor of wood panelling and ropes, experienced cocktail crafters Elfi, Julien and Aurélie can serve you a sailor-friendly rum on the rocks, or something a little more adventurous from their ambitious mixology menu. It’s classy, yet not extortionate by Paris standards: cocktails cost around €10 each and a half-pint of Demory will set you back €7.

The menu is travel-themed, with drink names like Falouka, De La Bretagne and Coco Lima. Expect to find ingredients from around the world in your drinks, be it pieces of date, rose petals, mead hydromel and salt, coconut shavings or white chocolate. We tried the classic gin-based Tom Collins and the lemon and sugar Sours, but one cocktail in particular stands out: the Barbecue cocktail created in collaboration with The Beast smokehouse. The bourbon and beer we can handle, but grilled meat in a cocktail? We're all at sea on that one.
