Behind the door of Comestibles is a glorious cavern of beams and barrels, meat-slicers and wine bottles, and a big bar to enjoy it all at. Pick your bottle from the book-like wine list, which leans towards natural wines (or at least organic). The prices start around €20, and can go up pretty quickly, but even the starter bottles are a cut above the average. If you're still struggling, try the limited selection of wines by the glass (from €4).
All this is perfect accompaniment for the top notch cheese and meat platters, put together from fine ingredients (coppa, lomo iberico, truffled ham etc.), generous terrines, sardines from Belle-Iloise and fancy fashionable sandwiches (smoked duck, mango and raw beetroot, for example). It all makes up an impressive selection of locally-sourced tapas (€8-€15). Just make sure you get in before 9.30pm, as there's a virtual lock-in every night – which means all the more fun for those who arrive on time. You're also very likely to head off with a bottle or two from the boutique section.
