What do you do when you don't have funds to set up your dream bar? You crowdsource, of course. Les Chaises hooked its donors by offering them the chance to have their names engraved in the bar in perpetuity – a steal at €150 for a chair, €500 for a bar stool, and €1000 for the toilet doors (obviously). And with incentives like that, who can be surprised that they raised the €12,000 they needed?
Opened in June 2014, Les Chaises attracts thirty-something crowd, who soak up the relaxed atmosphere and classic soundtrack (Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix). A playful vibe reigns, with the spirit of competition still alive in the decks of cards lying around and the chalkboard-topped tables ready for games and scribbles. With generous happy hours, smiley staff and great tunes, this bar is a rare gem of this part of the 20th arrondissement.
