If a heartfelt rendition of Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me is your secret to a good night out, you’ll probably like Helem Café in Paris 2nd. Big LCD TVs broadcasting fast-paced music videos double up as karaoke screens for mic-hogging music fans most nights. First fill up on classic Lebanese mezze; more than 30 hot and cold dishes are offered a la carte and on set menus. Then arm yourself with some Dutch (Arabic?) courage by ordering an arak, before making your way to the floor to give the performance of the night. Don’t be shy, either; they’ll want to hear you at the other end of Helem Café. The stylish black and white multi-mirrored space is pretty big, in more ways than one.
