Quintessential Montmartre is found at Le Coin des Amis. Both in its down-to-earth atmosphere and in the old photos on the walls showing the history of this lively, friendly neighbourhood. Within strolling distance of the Sacre Coeur, it was originally a bakery - the pretty ceiling moldings have barely changed - and is run by a pillar of the local restaurant scene: Subhas. His simple menu scores highly on traditional French classics - snails, filet mignon with mustard sauce, creme brulee, magret de canard, cheese platter with salad. For something lighter, go a la carte with the fish of the day or the perky prawns Provencal. Le Coin des Amis makes it to the list of best neighbourhood French restaurants where locals eat.
