Marie-Hélène de Taillac is a fine jeweller. But unlike her colleagues across the Seine, her diamonds and emeralds in simple, unpretentious settings work well with jeans and don't make her customers look like ancestral portraits. This combination of precious stones and modern styling has made her hugely popular with the fashion elite.
No doubt they also adore her Left Bank shop – a Tom Dixon-designed space in Marie-Hélène's trademark luminous pale blue and pillar box red, complete with a technicolour painting of Jaipur (where her studio is based) by Jean-Philippe Delhomme of Barneys New York ad fame.
