An unlikely location for a cafe, The Daily Dose is on the busiest and narrowest stretch of Chulia Street, amid Chinese coffee shops and small businesses. Recently opened, its interior is rustic, which is no reflection of the modish food they serve.
A large blackboard covering one wall of the cafe lists sandwiches filled with various luscious ingredients such as spicy arugula, dill pickle and a variety of cheeses, exotic Mediterranean offerings, breakfast staples of eggs, yogurt and the like.
From their sandwich choices, the grilled cheese sandwich and the Cubano are probably good representations of their flavour style. While the grilled cheese sandwich oozes generously with melted cheese countered by lightly piquant arugula leaves, the Cubano complements mozzarella and ham with slices of lightly tangy pickles. The overall result on the palate is one of creative simplicity for around RM12 to RM15.
Lastly, in accordance with its name we recommend a pitstop here for your daily dose of coffee because their coffee is, in a word, good and is only RM6 for an Americano. There’s also a list of reasonably priced wines on offer for less than RM100. Su Aziz
