All good things must come to an end, even the Bay Lights*. It’s been two years since artist Leo Villareal’s public installation of more than 25,000 synchronized LED lights illuminated our beloved Bay Bridge and gave the Golden Gate a run for her money. The Bay Lights will officially dim as scheduled on Thursday, March 5. Join fellow fans and the artist himself in saying goodbye to San Francisco’s favorite nightlight by meeting behind Waterbar that evening at 7:30pm. The first 1,000 attendees with receive commemorative LED tea lights.

If you haven’t seen this popular light sculpture (how?), you’ve got two days left to head down to the Embarcadero (or head across the bridge) to take in the scene. Or simply watch this video of the opening ceremony, starring the charming Villareal and our equally glowing lieutenant governor, Gavin Newsom.

*Surprise! The Bay Lights will be coming back in 2016 (in time for the Super Bowl) and staying forever.
