Den Gyldene Freden review Rate it

This first-class restaurant is housed in an 18th-century building owned by the Swedish Academy, and the dimly lit interior lends a suitably grandiose atmosphere to a meal here. Since it first opened in 1722, large sections of Stockholm's cultural elite have dined here - singer-poet Carl Michael Bellman, painter Anders Zorn and singer-composer Evert Taube were regular customers. As you'd expect, the menu is stocked with traditional Swedish dishes, including smoked reindeer, meatballs and plenty of herring and salmon.
