What once was a lone glasshouse structure in Kungsträdgården has duplicated five-fold into a row of cafés almost spanning the park's length. But Piccolino, Stockholm's first espresso bar, is the original and best. Opposite the winter ice-rink and summertime outdoor stage, and popular with Swedish celebs, this small café is good for people-watching. The elms surrounding it are important for many locals: 30 years ago they were saved after a sit-down protest against the decision to build a Tunnelbana station next door to Café Opera.
