Kulturhuset, or the House of Culture, is one of the most prominent modern buildings in Stockholm, designed by architect Peter Celsing. The building certainly lives up to its name: there are three galleries, a library (with a wide selection of foreign newspapers), activities for children, cafés and a terrace with an impressive city view. There are two stages in the building - Kilen and Hörsalen - showing a wide spectrum of theatre, dance and music, with Kilen showing the more experimental work. The International Writers' Stage has hosted guests such as Sara Waters and Robert Fisk. The building also houses the Stockholms Stadsteatern, with its six stages.
