We've seen Nicolas Cage when he's angry---and we like him when he's angry. So why does this painfully loud revenge movie skimp on the Cage rage? As a vengeful dad bent on taking out the cult leader who killed his daughter, the star never chooses to enter into hysterical mode---a serious tactical error. Meanwhile, all the muscle-car revving and slo-mo splatter in the world isn't going to compensate for a near-total lack of humor. Yes, that's counting the scene in which our hero takes out a squad of thugs while straddling a naked hooker and swigging Jack. Like Grindhouse, this is another flick that thinks it's much wilder than it is.
