Dutch teenager Pim (Ben Van den Heuvel) is spending his summer vacation enjoying long, lazy afternoons and clandestine mutual-masturbation sessions with his neighbor, Gino (Nathan Naenen). Sweet nothings whispered during sleepovers suggest that this is more than an experimental phase for both, but—wouldn’t you know it—suspicious family members and those nervous “this was all just a fun game, right?” excuses drive a wedge between the two. There are a million coming-out stories in various naked cities, and filmmaker Bavo Defume’s contribution to the genre initially differentiates itself with a vibrant, creatively campy color scheme. Once the visual touches fade away, however, there’s nothing to stop the parade of clichés.
