Grec 2013: The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra & Wynton Marsalis

  • Music
  • Jazz and experimental

This big band, which happens to be one of the best in the world, has been a resident of New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for the last 25 years. And during the parties that their concerts have become, they play works by John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Duke Ellington and many other great names in jazz. At the helm directing the band is Wynton Marsalis, a great trumpeter and composer who played with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers as a teenager. Today he heads up an orchestra that has become a jazz legend, and he's a model of the tradition of this musical style.
