Vida Festival: Yo La Tengo + Lana Del Rey + M. Ward + Sílvia Pérez Cruz & Refree + Mishima...

Lana Del Rey

Get ready for the Vida Festival, July 3 to 6 in Vilanova i la Geltrú – less than half an hour from Barcelona by train. The idea behind this festival is to fit different muscial disciplines into a single event. Most of it happens in two spaces – morning shows at La Daurada Beach Club, and evening and night performances at La Masia d'en Cabanyes – as well as the Moli de Mar stage, where the old Faraday festival was held. Predecessor of Vida, the Faraday group is also linked to the new festival, and the inaugural party will be held at the Moli de Mar stage.

Big names on the national and international scene star in the line-up that includes the noise-pop trio from Hoboken Yo La Tengo, with tracks from 'Fade' (2013) as well as a dip into their catalogue of hits in an 80-minute show; the pop diva Lana Del Rey, performing songs from her anticipated second album, 'Ultraviolence' (2014), for the first time in Spain; Portland singer-songwriter M. Ward (She & Him, Monsters of Folk); the duo of Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Raül Fernandez Miró (Refree), who this spring release a visceral and intimate album together featuring songs by others that they've taken and made their own; and wildly popular Catalan band Mishima, who will present their new album of signature pop, 'L'ànsia que cura'.

The Catalan pop scene will also be represented by Joan Colomo and Joana Serrat, both with new albums; Hidrogenesse and The Free Fall Band, each working on upcoming releases; Pau Vallve; Núria Graham; El Último Vecino; and Copa Lotus.

Highlights from the national scene include Sr. Chinarro, Alberto Montero and Pional, who will head up the electronica part of the festival, which is yet to be announced and will feature the collaboration of Sónar regulars, the Red Bull Music Academy.

While a headliner is still to be confirmed, other international artists include two from Canada, Austra and Timber Timbre; PAUS from Portugal; and Londoners Cheatahs.
