Swab 2016

Welcome to the ninth edition of Swab, Barcelona's Contemporary Art Fair, where collectors, art lovers, and the general public can enjoy emerging art and artists, and make affordable purchases.

The Fair kicks off on September 29 (the first day is for professionals only), and goes on until October 2 at the Italian Pavillion in front of the Magic Fountain on Montjuïc. Participating this year are 73 galleries from 25 countries. There are also five new programmes among the nine total programmes, and they are Focus Magreb, which hones in on artistic collectives from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia; In / Out, a commissioned project about artists from Barcelona galleries; Cross-Boundaries: Moving Images from China, a selection of pieces from three emerging Chinese filmmakers that inaugurates the Swab House, an artists' residence; and Sonido Close, So Far, a reflection via photography on the borders and the current geopolitical context.

There are also parallel events, such as tours of private collections, foundations and cultural institutiions.
