Voice of Boston is our series where we interview local tastemakers on their favorite neighborhoods, restaurants and hangouts around the city. If you missed our last one, catch up on our chat with Nick Daddona, the Beverage Director and Sommelier for the Boston Harbor Hotel.
This week we are off to the Seaport to chat with the queen of jeans, Alison Barnard O’Brien, the founder of Injeanius.
What are your favorite neighborhoods in Boston?
As a Boston native this is a tough question for me. It's like picking a favorite child! But if I have to narrow it down, I would say the Seaport, the North End and Beacon Hill are my favorites.
Where do you go for a late-night bite?
As of late, my kitchen (I have a little guy at home). However, I love Artu or Bricco in the North End for late night!
In general, what are some of your favorite restaurants and bars right now?
I love Nautilus! The vibe, the decor, the food, the drinks and it's close to my store. I am also loving Moo Seaport. Not only is the steak phenomenal, but the cookies are to die for. Woods Hill Pier 4 is also tops for me; it's farm to table and woman-owned.
Name a “hidden gem” where you always take friends or family when they are visiting from out of town?
Prezza in the North End. Eat at the bar or for big parties, reserve the front table. You can't go wrong.
What do you think is the best thing about Boston right now?
I might be a bit biased because my store is in the Seaport, but honestly Seaport is the best thing about Boston right now. For years, Boston has had very little waterfront dining despite being on the water. Now we have a whole neighborhood filled with waterfront restaurants and shops.
What do you think is the worst thing about Boston right now?
TRAFFIC!
What is your go-to Dunkin Donuts coffee order?
I don't drink coffee, so my order is an Iced Green Tea! However, my husband is a loyal Dunkin fan, and he drinks Iced Cold Brew, black.
