This week we are speaking with Nick Daddona, the Beverage Director and Sommelier for the Boston Harbor Hotel, one of Boston’s most prestigious places to stay, eat and drink!

What are your favorite neighborhoods in Boston?

South End and East Boston. I have always loved South End for its little tucked away corners and great restaurants. The charm of the old buildings and your neighborhood bartender pouring your favorite glass of red at your local haunt. You can also find so many great types of cuisine in the South End! East Boston is diverse and beautiful. Gorgeous views of Boston and amazing Colombian, Mexican, Halal and Seafood—to name a few!

Where do you go for a late-night bite?

Lone Star Taco Bar in East Cambridge; a local joint that has the best Mexican street food in greater Boston.

Name your favorite “cheap eats” in town.

Oyster deals are something I always shy away from for obvious reasons. However... Black Lamb on Tremont Street offers $1 Oysters all day Monday and every other day until 5pm. A well shucked bivalve and a great glass of white!? Count me in!

Name a “hidden gem” where you always take friends or family when they are visiting from out of town.

There is a tapas bar with one of the best wine lists in town and delicious 'Gin Tonics'. It is called Taberna de Haro on Beacon Street in Brookline. A glass of sherry and a plate of amazing seafood right off the C train on the Green Line.

What do you think is the best thing about Boston right now?

People building great communities. There are many people building businesses to be part of their neighborhood and their larger community.  In Charlestown, a great fresh pasta shop and wine store has recently opened. "Main Street Pasta" has become a place for locals to meet and shop (the fresh made ravioli is killer).

What do you think is the worst thing about Boston right now?

The closure of the Sumner Tunnel from the airport to downtown. Thank you to Mayor Wu for fixing things that have been neglected by her predecessors, but weekends for two years and a full closure next summer?

What is your go-to Dunkin Donuts coffee order?

I am a born and raised New Englander. Black iced please, I keep the coffee cold in the snow while I dig out my car.
