The remaining members of the Grateful Dead are set to reunite at Soldier Field for three shows during the Fourth of July weekend with Phish's Trey Anastasio filling in for Jerry Garcia. The shows will celebrate the band's 50th anniversary, and will be the last shows with the remaining members together.

The event is attracting Dead Heads from across the country, and they want a place to stay. A petition at Change.org has garnered more than 4,000 supporters to allow camping in all of Soldier Field's parking lots for the duration of the weekend.

The petition cites a Fox News report that claims Fourth of July is the deadliest holiday of the year, and that it would be much safer to turn the lakefront parking lots into a good old fashion shantytown.

You know that the Grateful Dead community is getting old when they are citing Fox News.

Whether or not the city obliges, Chicagoans must prepare for the arrival of more than 70,000 zealous fans desperately trying to rekindle the spirit of the '60s.
