Chicago is chock full of spectacular real estate. While most of our luxury pads pale in comparison to New York's, there are still some incredibly expensive homes within city limits.

In the spirit of good old fashion capitalism, here are the five most expensive home listings in Chicago. We've disregarded homes that are not yet constructed and units in larger buildings.

1. 1955 N Burling St: $18.75 million

Occupying five city lots, this Burling Street manor is Chicago's most expensive home listing on the market, and has been without a price cut since June. The place has six bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms and has a very classical feel given that it was built in 1999.

2. 924 N Clark St: $13.9 million

Nearly every Gold Coast stereotype is present in this home. With a spacious rooftop, an outdoor pool and a wine cellar, this house is excessive to say the least.

3. 1547 N Dearborn Pkwy: $11 million

This place is old—like 19th century old. After being listed at $18.75 million in 2013, it's price has been cut significantly to try and catch a buyer. There's a huge market for 12-bedroom homes, right?

4. 1508 N State Pkwy — $8.99 million

Also dating back to the 19th century and also failing to attract a buyer, this 35-room house has 10 fireplaces. Who knows what the owner could do with that much incendiary power.

5. 2026 N Mohawk St — $8.95 million

A hip, modern Lincoln Park home rounds out the list. It has a "reasonable" six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It also has an indoor basketball court, making it the perfect place for a wealthy parent to live vicariously though their child's sporting endeavors.
