The Violet Hour unveils new menu for summer

Those who are used to the Violet Hour's long vertical menu are in for a surprise. This summer, the longtime cocktail favorite has trimmed down its cocktail menu to 22 seasonal cocktails divided into shaken, stirred and classic sections.

Fruity and floral cocktails dominate the shaken section, highlighting citrusy and light cocktails like the Circles of Confusion, a pisco sour with lavender, huckleberry and a bit of funk. We're excited for the Sterile Animal, a take on a mule with Letherbee Vernal Gin, hickory smoked rhubarb, ginger, echinacea and chamomile.

Stirred fans will find spirit-forward libations like the Emerald City, a splurge at $25 (all other cocktails are $13 with the exception of the punch), with Plantation Pineapple Rum, VEP Chartreuse and juniper, date and nut notes.

The final section includes a selection of the Violet Hour's favorites from 2007 until now, like the Summer in Tremont, a sour with St. George Pear Brandy, citrus and raspberry. As always, the menu will boast a shareable punch, and this time around it's one that nearly transports you to an island, with Hamilton Black Jamaican Rum, Cutty Sark Scotch, pineapple syrup, lemon, madeira and yerba mate.

The menu is available now through the end of the summer.
