Scuzzy pop-punkers Eagulls hail from Leeds, England, circa now, but could have easily slipped into the Touch & Go Records roster sometimes in the mid-'90s. "Possessed" weds shoegazer squalls to Jesus Lizard cock-punch. Strong melodicism holds up all the feedback and hollering. Somewhere under that give-Steve-Albini-a-stiffy bass is something close to Psychedelic Furs. As tough as they want to come across, Eagulls still dream of British festival headliner status. Opening is another misspelled animal band of backwards looking awesomeness, Cheatahs, who nail the whammy-hammering shoegazer attack of early Ride.
