This Columbus, Ohio, troupe trades in the tropes that have been common to American indie for quite a while-harmonies, reverb, mustaches, folk, chanting, impassioned melancholy. But the quartet does it with heart. "Swallow all your chewing gum and stumble to the setting sun," main man Zac Little sings on "Uppercutter." His words and sincerity keep a familiar recipe fresh. The sad, slurred singing and stark strumming of "Missing Dogs" recalls the trailer-trash heartbreak of Modest Mouse, albeit with a sweeter voice less ravaged by smokes and booze.
