If you don’t mind waiting 15 minutes for what would otherwise be called “fast food,” then this is the place for you. A cheddar charburger served on a challah roll (or Bavarian rye at no extra charge) and three-layer fries smothered in Merkt’s cheddar spread, sour cream and bacon bits is as close to heaven as you can get in Des Plaines, or anywhere else for that matter. Resist gluttony and stay away from the double, as the meat-to-bun ratio equates with a wad of wet paper towels sandwiched between two dainty cotton balls, leaving you with a mess euphemistically called “burger salad.” The chocolate malt is divine, and the patio seating is paradise on a summer afternoon.
