Ten restaurants faced off to win Time Out Chicago's Grilled Cheese Meltdown, held December 12 at Chop Shop.
There's not much better than a toasty grilled cheese sandwich, and you agree—hundreds of readers turned out to the Grilled Cheese Meltdown on December 12 at Chop Shop to try 10 different grilled cheese sandwiches and crown a winner. We sampled grilled cheeses from the Fat Shallot food truck, Lady Gregory's, Gayle's Best Ever Grilled Cheese, Toasty Cheese food truck, Same Day Cafe, Northdown Cafe and Taproom, Beard & Belly, Blue Door Farm Stand, Glenn's Diner and the Happy Lobster Truck.
Attendees voted for their favorite sandwich, and Beard & Belly took the win for their grilled cheese, made with cheddar and butterkase cheese and a slick of sweet tomato jam. Check out photos of the event below.
