Interior designer Susan Fredman has a talent for transforming dwellings. But this time, she redesigned a different locale, turning a River North loft space into her urban home-accent store, At Home in the City. Ornamented in exposed brick, floor-to-ceiling windows and shelving built from the ceiling’s own timber beams, the shop features many hard-to-find labels, such as Oprah-approved scents by Zents ($10–$50) and linens and dishes by Chicago painter Judith Kruger ($20–$129). In addition to stocking up on goods, shoppers can also discuss their space with a designer on duty or purchase design advice for newlyweds.
