Working as a fitness instructor for the past 28 years, Emmy Blume watched plenty of exercise fads come and go. “Spinning wasn’t a trend,” she says. Lucky for her, since she dedicated the last 15 years of her career to teaching indoor cycling at East Bank Club. Branching out on her own to pursue her passion, Blume’s new boutique cycling studio in Old Town offers, well, a new spin on an old routine. The space errs on the clubbier side, with crystal chandeliers adorning the studio, which houses 20 odometer-outfitted Keiser M3 bikes. Two of the three types of classes stray from the norm: Go2 tacks on 15 minutes of abs and core work to a 45-minute cycling session, and Go Yo finishes off the ride with 30 minutes of yoga.
