Kokandy Productions, the relatively recent theatrical startup that's recently cemented its focus on musicals with admirable productions of The Last Five Years and Sweet Smell of Success, today announced a new two-show slate for its 2015 season.
John D. Glover will helm a new production of Terrence McNally and David Yazbek's The Full Monty (March 2–April 12). The comedy about out-of-work laborers turned male strippers, based on the 1997 British indie flick, was most recently seen in Chicago in a 2008 Marriott Theatre staging.
The season's other offering is a revisit of Loving Repeating: A Musical of Gertrude Stein (July 20–August 30). The chamber musical, adapted by Frank Galati and composer Stephen Flaherty using Stein's own words as lyrics to explore her relationship with Alice B. Toklas, was first produced by About Face Theatre and the Museum of Contemporary Art in 2006. Allison Hendrix will direct Kokandy's new production.
Kokandy Productions still has one production remaining in its 2014 season, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins (June 13–July 20). All three shows will be staged at Theater Wit.
