Kolossi is the perfect example of a 13th-century medieval castle, originally built by the Knights of St John and rebuilt in the 15th century after a Genoese attack. The crenellated rooftop offers wonderful views of the surrounding vineyards, which produce Commandaria (Cyprus's sweet dessert wine, commonly used for communion and the world's oldest named wine still in production). The remains of a 14th-century sugar factory are also nearby. The castle is around 20 minutes' drive from Lemesos.
