The ever reliable Sunway Lagoon with its various parks and water fun make it an ideal place to bring the little ones, but add SpongeBob SquarePants and more than ten new rides and you have the brand new Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, ready for the flood of kids (and the kid-at-heart) eager for a taste of Bikini Bottom life.

A roundup: it’s a ten-acre attraction within Sunway Lagoon and is described as a ‘lost civilisation surrounded by lush, natural rainforest’, which we guess translates to lots of greenery and space for kids to flail about. There are colossal water rides, meandering walkways, rest spots and lots of greenery for a fun day out.

For the rides, there’s the must-go ‘SpongeBob Splash Adventure’, a super-soaker with a jungle-ruin façade (check out the neon-orange pineapples and our favourite buck-toothed sea sponge at the top). If you’ve always wanted to know how it’s like to be slimed with Nickelodeon’s signature green goo, go for the daily mass sliming at 4pm. Younger ones can zip around the multiple water features at ‘Splish Splash’, which promises an interactive water spray experience.

If you’re looking for more thrills, the ‘Kubarango’ unleashes you into a steep drop before taking you up on a near-vertical experience for a moment of weightlessness, and backwards into a reversed free-fall before you return with a splash. Can’t imagine how that’ll feel like? Go experience it yourself.

The ‘Jungle Fury’ takes you on surprise drops and twisting turns for the ultimate adrenaline rush. Race the kids to the ‘Monsoon 360’ where, facing forwards and arms crossed, you wait for the trapdoor to open below you and take you on an intense vertical free-fall. Challenge each other to race speeds of up to 60kph in less than two seconds.

To take a breather, go on breezy rides like ‘Hippo Valley’ and ‘Moolalah Adventure River’, where you’ll get to soak in the sights and sounds of tree-swinging monkeys, drums and ‘tribal warriors’. On the ‘Explorers Trail’, you can take in views of the MariMari Rapids, waterfalls, gullies and hills.

After you’ve relaxed a little, go for more twists, turns and drops at ‘Primeval’ with three ride experiences: ‘Cobra Creek’, ‘Boa Constrictor’ and ‘Crocodile Gully’. At the exit, drop by the Nickelodeon store for Nick merchandise like Dora The Explorer plushies and SpongeBob gear. If you're lucky, see if you can snap a photo with Nickelodeon characters on their walkabouts.

Adults and children above 12 years, RM150; children below 11 years and senior citizens above 60, RM120. Admission ticket includes entry to all parks, including all rides, activities and attractions. Not applicable for pay-per-ride activities such as 'Bungy Jump', 'G-ForceX' and 'Go Kart'. For more info, visit sunwaylagoon.com
