Time Out says

Airing on the Sundance Channel (Channel 438) this July 21, the critically acclaimed American West series follows the construction of the transcontinental railroad just after the American Civil War circa 1865. The main storyline running through 'Hell on Wheels' focuses on Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon and his quest to avenge the murder of his wife. The drama stars Anson Mount, Common and Colm Meaney.
