The pool area of Mandarin Oriental is given a resort-like makeover with the addition of a new restaurant and bar – AQUA. Located on the third floor of the hotel, the alfresco bar and dining space is a relaxing place to chill out after work over some food and drinks, with a view of KLCC park and KL’s city skyline. The open kitchen is specially designed with customised tiles for the countertop, whereas the island bar shines with a white marble top on a copper hammered base.

Cosy up by the bar and watch as the bartender puts together some of AQUA’s signature house cocktails such as the Tom Yam Margarita – a spicy creation using tequila, Cointreau triple sec, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, cili padi and salt. The Millionaire Mojito is a refreshing choice on a hot day that combines Ron Zacapa Centenario Solera 23 rum and Moët & Chandon champagne with lime, mint and sugar.

The food in AQUA’s menu ranges from Asian fare to Italian favourites and are great for sharing. Some recommendations include Linguine Gamberini or the Pan-fried Shanghai Dumplings with a choice of sesame, spicy cucumber-tomato salsa or ginger-cucumber-teriyaki relish on the side. AQUA also boasts of a wood-fired oven where they churn out pizzas. Try the Pizza Margherita that’s topped with organic tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil.
