Never Follow Suit

Never Follow Suit may be a de facto Telawi shop, but it’s nothing like the other Telawi shops. A concept store opened by local stylists and designers Calvin Cheong, Joe Chia, Victor Goh, and David Shaw, it houses a mix of jersey basics, reworked vintage and original designs. The store is divided into three distinct spaces: when you walk through the door, you enter Revolution, a raucous collection of vintage and general cool stuff (check out the vintage bras hanging from the ceiling).

To the left is a room draped entirely in white – think huge sweeping white curtains and couches covered in white sheets. On the racks hang collections of sleek black dresses, tailored menswear and monochromatic separates. The last room is currently stocked with super-trendy colour blocking pieces, vintage clutches and furniture (they’ve teamed up with treasure trove The Curiousity Shop on the furniture and knick knacks). There are still a few phases left for development – mention has been made of a ‘dining’ space and more design lines working their way in. But even now it’s very, very cool.
