The 1,600 papier-mâché pandas that have travelled around the world, including France, Italy, Switzerland and Taiwan, are currently in Malaysia and will be visiting more than 15 landmarks across the country. Crafted by French sculptor Paulo Grangeon using recycled paper, they represent the number of pandas left in the wild, to raise the awareness on conservation development. The papier-mâché pandas will be available for public viewing for only two hours at each stop, but you can take all the panda photos you want when they find a temporary home in Publika from Jan 13 to 25.
The exhibition in Publika will also feature seven special-edition pandas representing Malaysian themes and elements: Trishaw, Wau, Congkak, Wayang Kulit, Gasing, and our favourite, Badminton. During the exhibition, you can shop for panda merchandise at the booths on site, and even snap a selfie cuddling some of the pandas at the designated 'Hug Hug Zone'.
