Is this the weirdest wine glass rack in Manchester?

If you're anything like me, you've probably never given much thought to how to store wine glasses in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Most bars and restaurants traditionally keep them out of sight in a cupboard or under the bar or on a wine glass rack. And that used to work just fine. Now though, wine is having a massive renaissance and so instead of hiding your Riedels away, you're supposed to flaunt your designer glassware for all the world to see.

Step forward Palate, a new wine bar on Chorlton's Wilbraham Road from the team behind The Parlour in Chorlton and The Castle Hotel in the Northern Quarter, which opened at the beginning of May. Not content with offering Prosecco on tap and a winelist with more than 60 bottles, Palate has put its sparkling glassware on display in unique fashion by nailing actual garden rakes into the wall and hanging wine glasses off the teeth.

But will these novelty wine glass holders help Palate become the toast of Chorlton? Early signs are that they're raking it in…
