Budapest is pretty magnificent – it drips with gorgeous Art Nouveau architecture, is dotted with fantastic ruin bars and boasts some of Europe’s best thermal baths and spas. Pair that with great nightlife and delicious food, and it’s no wonder we’ve decided to open a Time Out Market right in the heart of the city.

We welcomed Time Out Market Cape Town back in November, and Time Out Market Porto is well underway, set to open its doors in May. Now we can announce that Time Out Market Budapest will be opening next year, at the Corvin Palace at Blaha Lujza Square, on the ‘Pest’ side of the Danube.

It’s a former department store, which opened back in 1926 but has recently been redeveloped to revive its dazzling Neoclassical splendour. ‘Corvin Palace is the oldest department store in Budapest … we are delighted to be welcoming Time Out Market Budapest to Corvin Palace soon,’ said Oliver Balogh and Viktor Balogh, minority owners of Corvin Palace.

The market will be home to the very best of the city’s food scene, with 14 kitchens for award-winning chefs and budding restaurateurs to rustle up their dishes, but plenty of much-loved local gems will be taking part, too.

All that food will make you thirsty, so there’ll also be four bars to choose from, and cocktails from exciting local mixologists are set to be on the menu. What’s more, there’ll be an event space, plus seats for 800 people.

Sandy Hayek, Time Out Market CEO, said: ‘The food scene is a great reflection of the city itself: Budapest offers both traditional, classic and modern, hip elements – it has a vibrant and diverse food scene which we will bring together under one roof at Time Out Market Budapest.’

Exciting stuff! Watch this space for more.
