Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

The Centre Pompidou continues its pop art fixation with this Martial Raysse retrospective: but as well as the expected pastiche canvases in primary colours, you’ll also find psychedelic films, luminous installations and striking contemporary frescoes. While Raysse (born in 1936) was inspired by Andy Warhol’s approach during the 1960s – leading him to incorporate neon lights and film into his paintings – he distanced himself from this work during his experimental ‘shamanic’ period, finding a sort of personal mythology during the 80s. With over 200 works, this exhibition should attract attention to a rich and varied career that, overall, remains too little appreciated.
