SIMONA BELOTTI
Prescription Cocktail club
6th arrondissement

This stylish 1930s-style speakeasy has a retro Prohibition feel but remains severely Left Bank, with crowds of well-dressed people sipping on cocktails by candlelight. It's always busy and almost impossible to navigate on weekends. But come at the start of the night for a relaxing vibe.

Last night 5 friends out for a good time in Paris. 2 men are standing in the doorway talking. I say bon soir and try to go inside the men put their hands up to block the door and very rudely tell me (us) to stop. Then as we try to figure out what's going on they are telling us the rules of Parisian clubs and how we must stop. There were no ropes up and nothing to indicate that they were hired help for the club. Then as they observe that we are American (really Canadian) they say "oh Americans how typical." As two people in our group tried to plea our case then they decided "only 4 of you can enter". We were just 2 couples and an in town guest out for a good time and drinks. The owner lost out on some money bc the egotistical help at the door.
