Just next to Le Troisième Lieu (owner Yauss manages both venues), in the achingly hip Rue Quincampoix, My Electro Kitchen is an independent music boutique specialising in electronic music. Xavier Ehrestmann has been managing this musical cocktail for some months, a sort of test kitchen for Le Troisième Lieu, complete with Formica décor. Xavier is a thoroughgoing expert, and makes many a convert to his musical tastes thanks to his challenging but wide-ranging selection. You might struggle here if you’re in the market for the latest from David Guetta, but will have no problem getting your hands on the latest releases from Theo Parrish, Moodymann or Drexciya.

If the selection is geared more to DJs, simple fans can also browse happily among the well-stocked shelves of this tasteful kitchen. Even better, once a week there’s a cocktail hour session where DJs spin tracks they’ve discovered through the boutique – bound to reassure the perplexed neophyte and satisfy the demanding connoisseur, especially during one of the numerous promotions or stock clear outs.
