Updated: 15 May 2014

She is due to rock the H-Artistry party in Penang this Thursday but before that, the Australian touring DJ Brooklyn chats with Cheng Sim on what she does on her downtime and more.

What’s the toughest part about being a female DJ?
To be taken seriously and to show that females can be just as good.

And what are the best things about being a female DJ?
I love going to new places, meeting new people and creating that fun party vibe for everyone to escape their everyday problems. You’ve been touring across Australia since April.

Do you enjoy being on the road?
The travelling alone can sometimes get a bit boring but other than that I love it, love seeing different towns and cities its always an exciting adventure.

What do you do to relax?
In my down time I like to snuggle up with my dog (Lucy) and catch up on TV series. Keeping your set list fresh for various audiences is tough.

What sort of music can we expect from your performance in H-Artistry?
A lot of vocal tracks, big room and Melbourne Bounce.

Who are your early musical influences?
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be involved in the music industry. I’d listen to everything from pop, rock to electro dance so there was a lot of musical influences from different genres.

If you can swap places with any famous person for a night, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Havana Brown, she is actually where I want to be. She doesn’t just DJ she dances and sings which is something I hope to add to my performances.

What are some of the craziest stunts you’ve pulled on stage?
I have tried crowed surfing once…haha! And would love to do it again.

What are you looking forward to do while in Penang?
Experiencing the culture, food and beaches.

Is there a DJ Brooklyn way of enjoying Hennessy V.S.O.P party?
Pretty much just to dance the night away.
