The annual James Beard Awards Gala is still weeks away, set to take place at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, May 2nd, but excitement is already mounting, thanks to today’s live announcement of the year’s nominees. Presented during a breakfast at the Presidio Officers’ Club in San Francisco, the finalist list includes 20 nods for New York, 12 for Chicago—including an impressive Best Chef: Great Lakes sweep—ten for San Francisco, and seven for Los Angeles.
