Call it Little Vietnam if you please, late-night dining here transports you to the bustling streets of Hanoi where the scent of charcoal-smoked meats permeate the air. Serving up authentic Vietnamese barbequed street food, sink your teeth into tender cuts of meats with various homemade marinades. Hot tip, don't forget to dip into the sauces on the side – look out for the green zesty chilli that pairs perfectly with the flavourful meat wrapped in crisp lettuce. And if you're in need of some soup, the nourishing herbal sliced beef pho also does the trick.

8. 85 Bedok North Fried Oyster

It's no secret that the standard of food varies when different chefs are at the helm of this joint. Thankfully for us, they have not quite come close to their sore reputation on Google reviews each time we visit. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, and if you're still up for a fuss-free Russian roulette experience, have a go at a moreish plate of fried oysters or orh luak and the fluffy fried black and white carrot cake. On the good days, it makes for a real satisfying supper snack.

There's nothing quite as warm and comforting as a bowl of porridge in the middle of the night. Head down to Eminent Frog Porridge for an award-winning supper — it made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2019 list, serving up piping hot bowls of frog legs till 4am daily. It's famous for the spicy kung pao version, cooked in dried chilli and soy sauce. But those who want something milder can opt for the version where chillies are substituted with ginger and spring onions. Squeamish about eating frog legs? The delicious sauce that it's stewed in will make you throw all caution to the wind.

The Dim Sum Place is one of the few Halal-certified dim sum joints in town, and probably one of the rare spots you can enjoy a Halal xiao long bao. Drop by on Fridays and Saturdays – its operating hours extend till 2am, allowing you and your friends to enjoy everything from steamed dumplings to modern dim sum variants like deep-fried siew mai. Nothing beats steaming hot dim sum after a night of joyful inebriation.

The chain has made a name as one of the go-to supper spots in the country, so don’t be surprised to find a queue well into the early hours for a seat at Swee Choon Tim Sum. The cult supper hotspot is a hit with the post-clubbing crowd and night owls that flock to the restaurant for its signature mee-suah kueh, Portuguese egg tarts, chee cheong fun, custard-rich liu sha bao,  and all forms of dim sum that you can dream up.

Open till 2am from Friday to Saturday and 1am from Sunday to Thursday

Despite ramen being a popular late-night food in Japan, that's unfortunately not quite the case in Singapore. Thankfully for us, The Ramen Stall exists, and unlike its name, it serves more than ramen. Chicken and beef-based ramen are popular choices, but the restaurant also serves an equally enjoyable dry ramen. The Ramen Stall’s range of sushi also runs the gamut from prawn tempura rolls to soft shell crab maki, but to really fill your belly, go for the teppanyaki beef or the kaisen don.

It might be too hot to enjoy a piping bowl of soup during the day, but the cooler weather at night makes it perfect for slurping up a bowl of Seng Kee’s famous herbal mee sua. Each bowl of nourishing soup comes swimming with vermicelli and slices of pork, kidney, and liver. Others make their way down for their herbal black chicken soups boiled with herbs like ginseng or cordyceps. Not in the mood for soup? Seng Kee’s rendition of the fried beehoon will give JB Ah Meng a run for its money.

If you find the name familiar, this stall was actually set up by a relative of the original Song Kee Fishball Noodle owners. But things don’t differ much here — and when it's late at night, it doesn't quite matter anyway. Their famous fishballs, meatballs, and fish dumplings are still made by hand and served with springy noodles tossed with spoonfuls of homemade dried shrimp chilli paste. They're perfectly enjoyed with a splash of vinegar for an added zing.

Ponggol Nasi Lemak's other chains have regular operating hours, so make sure to head down to the original stall at Mee Sek Food Court along Upper Serangoon Road. There’s always a snaking queue during dinner time, but since it opens till midnight, going down for supper allows you to skip the crowd and get your nasi lemak fix. Their selection is extensive, but must-haves include the fried chicken wing and otah, along with a heaping spoonful of sambal.

JB Ah Meng’s new digs might be cleaner, brighter, and bigger, but it hasn’t lost its appeal just because you can’t dine on the road anymore. The crowds keep coming back for unbeatable zi char dishes like san lou bee hoon, the pancake-resembling seafood noodle dish that’s the joint’s star, and wok-tossed clams with copious amounts of garlic. They also do a killer rendition of white pepper crab that’s only mildly spicy, which allows for the natural sweetness of the crustacean to shine.

The stretch of eateries across from Beauty World Centre is no stranger to tummies starving in the middle of the night. Most places like Joo Seng Teochew Porridge and G7 Sinma Claypot stay open past midnight but Al-Azhar is open till the wee hours of the morning — 3am to be exact. Order up your favourite prata, naan, maggi goreng, and other indulgent supper munchies. We all know Swee Choon is the go-to for late-night dim sum, but 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi at Boon Keng might just be a worthy contender. It serves more than a 100 different types of dim sum, running from staples like siew mai, xiao long bao and har gao, to more unique finds such as braised duck wings and pork belly yam rolls. Interestingly, one of the most popular picks off the menu is congee and not dim sum. Else, you can't go wrong with their chee cheong fun rolls as well.

No matter the time of day, you’re sure to find a crowd gathering at Fei Fei Wanton Mee for a good ‘ol bowl of char siew noodles. Now that the eatery opens 24/7, you can wolf down a bowl of wanton noodles for supper or even as a really early breakfast meal. Each bowl comes loaded with roasted pork and vegetables, but nothing beats the homemade fried wontons that somehow always manage to retain their crunch despite being mixed with copious amount of chilli sauce and dark soya sauce.

Opens till 4am

For a comforting Chinese feast in the wee hours, nothing beats a steaming bowl of porridge and a fleet of humble yet hearty dishes. That a meal for two will only clock in at about $20 makes a trip to this supper haunt even better. Joo Seng’s star dish, besides the porridge, of course, is the braised duck leg. It’s fall-off-the-bone tender and swimming in a savoury-sweet soya sauce base. The minced pork with black bean — another Teochew porridge staple — is flawless too. But whatever you do, it’s obligatory to request an additional bowl of dark zhup – you’ll be liberally ladling that into your bowl, trust us.
