Polymathic artist Joan Brossa (1919-98) left his fingerprints all over his home city, both in physical sculptures such as the letters spelling 'Barcino' by the cathedral or the Illusory Clock outside the Poliorama Theatre on La Rambla, and also in his vast legacy of poems, plays and tireless campaigning for the Catalan language, the Espai Escènic Joan Brossa theatrical space in the Born, and the founding of the Dau-al-Set avant-garde art movement in 1948. The permanent collection at the foundation fills three white rooms with some 35 of Brossa's visual and object poems, along with posters, manuscripts, books, photographs and screenings of some of his short films.
